At this week’s Banff and Buchan Area Committee, local councillors noted the financial position of the Museum of Scottish Lighthouses following a report on its financial statements for the year ended March 31, 2013.
The councillors discussed the statements, as well as the Museum of Scottish Lighthouses’ business plan for 2014-2017 last Tuesday, January 28.
Banff and Buchan Area Committee considered a report from the director of infrastructure services seeking comments on the proposals contained in that report for consideration at a Policy and Resources Committee meeting earlier this month.
The financial statements and business plan had been presented to the area committee after they had agreed, also at a prior meeting, that a report containing up-to-date financial information, and a copy of the museum’s business plan, be presented to them.
The report presented to councillors revealed that, for the year ending March 31, the Museum of Scottish Lighthouses had total funds amounting to £55,943. Of this, £42,046 was classed as unrestricted funds.
“Unrestricted funds can be used in accordance with the charitable objectives at the discretion of the trustees,” the report says.
