Banff and Buchan Councillors are set to determine the budget allocation for the initiatives fund next week.

It has been recommended that the Banff and Buchan Area Committee allocate the sum of £52,500 for fund which, amongst other themes, hopes to improve the appearance and maintenance of towns and support communities and volunteering.

Consulted ahead of time, councillors were split on the report. Councillors Gray, Roy, Duncan, Findlater, and Buchan raised no concerns with the recommendation. Councillors Watt and Partridge, meanwhile, accepted them by no response.

Councillor Cox, the chair of the area committee, meanwhile, did not.

In a comment made on the report, he said: “Please add an additional criterion: health, fitness and wellbeing to tackle obesity, medical and recovery.”

In a report prepared for the councillors, however, it notes: “This criterion is already within the report under the theme of reducing health inequalities across Banff and Buchan.”

Councillors Tait and Topping, also, did not agree with the recommendation.

The councillors are set to discuss the matter on Tuesday, April 1.
