Diamond celebration for Broch couple

Fraserburgh couple James and Helen Simpson (nee West), known affectionately as Jimmy and Nellie, have celebrated 60 years of marriage.

As well as a host of cards and presents from family and friends, the couple were presented with flowers and chocolates by Councillor Michael Watt on behalf of Aberdeenshire Council. They also received a card from the Queen.

Jimmy and Nellie have one son and one daughter, Brian and Thelma, three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

During their careers, Jimmy worked in the toolworks, while Nellie worker at the Corner Drapery in the Broch.

The couple have lived in Fraserburgh all of their lives.

Nellie said: “We’re more than grateful for the long, happy life that we’ve had.

“We’re going to be having a meal out with our family at the Ban Car this weekend to celebrate our 60 glorious years.”
