Asley's long hair before, and her new short look

Asley's long hair before, and her new short look

INVERURIE resident Ashley Townend has gone for a radical new look, all in the aid of charity.

Ashley decided it was time to cut her hair, but thought it a shame that the cut hair always ended up in the bin after. So she decided that she would look to donate her cut hair to a deserving cause.

Ashley told the Herald, “My hair has always been long and I have had it cut short before and all my hair has just been put into the bin which is a shame so I thought about hair donation.

“I went online and came across the Little Princess Trust website who makes real hair wigs for boys and girls who have lost their hair through cancer or other illnesses, which I though was a fantastic idea and really wanted to do this.

“This charity must make children feel amazing and not so sad about losing their own hair and not feel so self conscious about themselves.”

Ashley added, “My husband Dean Townend is very supportive of me doing this and is so proud of me and thinks it is a great thing to do. My children, Charlie, Sophie and Grace were just excited about mummy getting short hair!.

“My family and everyone who’s knew that I was doing this have given me nothing but praise and think I am very brave to so something like this. The people who have donated money so far have been very generous and every single donation whether big or small is amazing and I am so grateful. I have a just giving web page for people to donate which is www.justgiving.co.uk/Ashley-townend1987 or yu can text a donation to ASHT87 plus your amount to 70070 would really appreciate any donations it costs on average £350 to make one wig so any money I make will go straight to them to help make one of these wigs.”

Ashleys big cut was done by Leanne Cusack at Hair by Leanne, “She was amazing and did a great job, it is a massive change for me but I am very happy with it and it is all for a amazing cause.”
