An Inverallochy couple have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with family and have been presented with gifts by a local councillor.
Evan and Dorothy Ritchie (nee Butters) celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary on Thursday, March 27.
The couple have one son, Evan, and one daughter, Dorothea.
Evan and Dorothy also have three granddaughters, a great-granddaughter and another great-grandchild due in August. All of their family stay in the North-east.
Evan was born in Inverallochy and Dorothy was brought up in Fraserburgh.
The couple met at a dance at Inverallochy village hall and married in Rathen East Church. They still live in the same house as when they married 60 years ago.
During her career, Dorothy worked in the office at the toolworks, while Evan worked as an electrician and latterly as a grocer.
The couple are planning to have a family meal at Buchan Braes to celebrate their milestone anniversary.
On the day of their anniversary itself, Dorothy and Evan were presented with flowers and gifts by Fraserburgh councillor Charles Buchan on behalf of the community as well as by Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Aberdeenshire Kate Nicolson.
Commenting, Dorothy said: “We never thought we’d be 60 years married. It’s just a case of give and take.
“It’s been a blessing that we’ve been together so long.”
