North East MSP Christian Allard MSP has taken the opportunity to highlight the importance of Scams Awareness Month which takes place throughout May.
Scams come in many forms and can blight the lives of victims. Scams Awareness Month is an opportunity to empower people so that they know how to spot and stop scams.
The month has been divided into four weekly sections with each week focusing on a different type of scam.
The campaign is run by Citizens Advice Scotland and Trading Standards Services.
Commenting, North East MSP Christian Allard said: “Scams, no matter what the type, can be terrible for the victim. It is important that people are aware of what scams criminals are using and how to protect against them.
“That is why I warmly welcome the first Scams Awareness Month campaign which is being run by Citizens Advice Scotland and Trading Standards Service.
“I would urge everyone, especially those with vulnerable family members, to do all they can to find out about how to avoid becoming the next victim of a scam.
“Citizens Advice will be holding a number of events in the coming month so I would encourage people to check their website for the latest news.”
