Television personality Ben Fogle visited the Peterhead Lifeboat Museum’s Fishing Heritage Exhibition on Monday, March 3.

Ben and his team were most interested in the old way of life and spent some time touring the exhibition before heading off to Fraserburgh to set out on his third North Sea voyage of the year.

Ben had tea and a “fancy peece” courtesy of Heather Lawson.

Commenting on the display of biscuits, Ben said it was “too good to eat” however he did sample a few of them.

This year’s exhibition opens to the public on Wednesday, March 26 from 10am to 4pm.

The exhibition will be open every Wednesday until Scottish Week when it will be open every day.

A new venture this year will be a demonstration of craft skills including knitting, crocheting, net mending and making model boats.

Pictures from the Craft Residency for making Boaties at the Maritime Centre at the Lido in 2004, 2005 and 2006 will also be on display.

In order to personalise this year’s exhibition, families linked with the lifeboat in the early days are featured in pictures, some dating back to the early 1800s.

Families included are McLean, Bruce, Buchan, Summers, Cameron, Cordiner, Gowans, Wiseman, Forman, Duncan and Strachan.

These names mean nothing with the ‘bynames’ so if Tanker, Gammack, Wulsie Cockie, Chowie and Gash mean anything to you then the exhibition is not to be missed.
