Two charged in connection with fire

Police Scotland can confirm that two men aged 22 and 27 have been charged in connection with a fire at Peterhead Bowling Club.

The fire, which happened on Sunday, June 15, destroyed the bowling club and also caused damage to buildings of other business premises.

It is anticipated that the two men will appear at Peterhead Sheriff Court on Monday, July 21.

Buchan Community Policing Inspector George Cordiner said: “This incident caused significant distress and upset to the owners and users of these facilities as well as causing concern to the wider community. We recently requested the assistance of the public to help identify those responsible and I would like to express my thanks for that support and hope we will continue to work together to ensure our community remains one of the safest places to live.”
