A 48-year-old man died yesterday after a road collision between two vans on the A90 Aberdeen to Fraserburgh road just south of Hatton.

The accident occurred around 10.45 am causing the road to be closed in both directions.

The 48 year old male driver of a white Ford Transit tipper van was taken by ambulance to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where he sadly died.

The 26 year old male driver of a white Mercedes Vito panel van suffered serious injuries and is currently being treated at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

The drivers were the sole occupants of their respective vehicles.

Sergeant Colin Matheson added, “Our thoughts at this particularly sad time are with the family and friends of those involved.

“We have spoken to a number of witnesses already in order to help piece together exactly what has happened.”

He added: “I would urge anyone who may have seen either of the vehicles prior to the collision, or who saw the incident itself and who hasn’t yet come forward to do so as soon as possible.”
