Theatre Modo’s Maelstrom event was declared a hit this week by local councillor Charles Buchan.
The former Fraserburgh Academy teacher, from where the event kicked-off, attended the event and described it as “Fraserburgh’s outdoor event of the year”.
With youngsters taking to the street with Theatre Modo volunteers, giant constructs depicting lighthouses, boats and even a seal mounted on top of an Aberdeenshire Council van, paraded their way through the town centre to an impressive fireworks display at James Ramsay Park.
The councillor added: “A great advert for the young people of Fraserburgh and district!
“Well done, the organisers, Theatre Modo and the sponsor Shell UK. Let’s have another event like this as soon as possible!”
It was estimated that more than 10,000 people had turned out to view Maelstrom, with Theatre Modo posting on their Facebook page: “Huge contratulations to all the hundreds of young folk from the Broch and beyond for afantastic parade last night. ou were brilliant!
“A great night, and a fantastic turnout!”
