Miss Junior Teen Aberdeenshire is using a unique idea to raise money for a local charity.
Along with her mum, Nichola,14-years-old Alex Hepburn has been producing and selling fairy gardens and giving a share of her proceeds to AVENUE. Alex came up with the idea of hand-making fairy and elf kits through her Facebook page Turriff Fairy and Elf Gardens selling around 30 so far. These kits bring fairy magic to any garden.
They are £8 per kit which include a fairy or elf house, stepping stones, tyre swing, seat, toadstools and a pond. £3 from each kit goes to charity, and the rest covers the cost of materials.
Alex was recently selected to go through to the finals of Miss Teen Great Britain and is currently Miss Junior Teen Aberdeenshire.
AVENUE provides Child Contact Centres to help parents keep in touch with their children. Trained volunteers play a key role in assisting to run the seven centres across the north east.
Contact Centre Volunteers arrange play equipment, welcome families and children on arrival and encourage and facilitate positive interaction between children and adults or siblings. For parents who don’t want to meet, volunteers accompany the children between parents.
