Moonlight Prowl offers “mile and a muffin” to support charity

A NORTH-EAST community is preparing to launch one of the area’s biggest fundraising events for the sixth year running.

The Fraserburgh-based Moonlight Prowl has raised almost £500,000 for research into the prevention and treatment of breast cancer at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and the University of Aberdeen.

This year’s Moonlight Prowl, which began in 2006, will be launched with a special treat for ladies who would like to register for the event to be held on on June 4.

Chairperson, Pamela Manette, said: “The New Year is a great time to take up a new challenge. Walking brings so many benefits, including promoting positive mental health and boosting your metabolism. On January 22, ladies can join us at the Dalrymple Hall and Arts Centre and test their fitness by walking a mile.

“This takes them on to the first steps of the training plan for the Moonlight Prowl, and after the short walk ladies can relax with a cup of tea and a muffin.”

The one mile walk leaves from the Dalrymple Hall and Arts Centre, Seaforth Street, Fraserburgh at 10.30am on Saturday, January 22 and ladies are encouraged to bring along friends and family for support and fun.
