The Museum of Scottish Lighthouses is getting ready for it’s annual International Lighthouse Weekend on Saturday August 20 and Sunday August 21.
The International Lighthouse Weekend is an annual event where lighthouses across the world connect through the skill of amateur radio enthusiasts.
The aim of the event is to promote public awareness of lighthouses and lightships and their need for preservation and restoration.
The weekend also promotes amateur radio clubs and fosters International goodwill.
The Museum of Scottish Lighthouses has been involved in the International Lighthouse Weekend since it started. Working in partnership with Banff & Buchan Amateur Radio Club last year we contacted lighthouses as far away as Russia.
The Museum also runs family activities and offers our unique guided tour right to the top of Kinnaird Head Lighthouse all for free.
So come and join us in the fun of the weekend and see who we’ve been in touch with.
