Museum manager gives his view on information centre move

Museum of Scottish Lighthouses’ business manager, Gary Campbell, has spoken to The Fraserburgh Herald concerning plans to move Fraserburgh’s tourist information centre to the museum.

The plans came to light following Councillor Charles Buchan speaking out against the move, saying: “When a tourist comes to any town, they make for the town centre to find out what attractions the town has to offer, and what accommodation is available.

“Fraserburgh will have a huge gap in provision, as only single destination visitors, going to the lighthouse museum, will be informed of the many leisure pursuits, and places of historical interest, available in the town.”

He added: “The present office, although woefully underfunded, does have a steady stream of visitors, and little attempt has been made to encourage greater footfall.”
