Action to safeguard businesses at Macduff’s harbour has been welcomed by Councillor Hamish Partridge. The Troup councillor has been working with community groups to promote the facility.
Speaking following a change of mind from Aberdeenshire Council last week, when the infrastructure services committee perform a U-turn on proposed charge increases, he suggested that the news was good for the North-east.
“This is fantastic news for Macduff as this will safeguard important businesses and jobs within the town.
“I feel strongly that we as councillors must be doing everything within our power to help improve our area and support business, but all too often in Macduff, we are seeing this is not the case from the council’s Administration.
“Macduff is part of the regeneration area within Banff & Buchan and everything that can possibly be done to support businesses growing and being able to relocate to our area and allow the town to flourish again, should be done,” he said.
Councillor Partridge also praised the work of local man Ian Williams, a community councillor, who he said had done a “tremendous amount of work” for the harbour.
Councillors were asked to discuss proposed increases for harbours across Aberdeenshire last week. Officers had recommended a 3.5% baseline increase for the coming financial year.
