Kirstie Swales has been appointed as the new community health development officer for the Fraserburgh area.
Kirstie is based at the Hub, High Street, and her role is to support and improve health and well-being in the area and encourage people to lead healthier lifestyles.
“Health is something that can be taken for granted and my role is to raise awareness and to promote people to lead a more active life.
“It is about working in and with the community to address underlying health issues and to get people to consider their health by taking preventative action,” she said.
Among the projects that Kirstie will be developing include supporting the establishment of a community garden in the town and being involved with the newly formed Fraserburgh Sports Hub.
Both projects now have steering committees formed.
Her role is funded by NHS Grampian and is run in partnership with the Fraserburgh Development Trust.
Ian Watson, Chairman of the Trust, said: “We see this as a crucial role within the community. We are delighted that Kirstie has joined us and we know she is relishing the challenge to work with community groups and partners.”
