No opposition for supermarket

Fraserburgh Community Council voted unanimously to approve the proposed supermarket at Watermill Road.

Reading correspondence to the Community Council last week, Secretary Mr Page said that the Community Council had been asked to approve aspects of the proposed supermarket by Aberdeenshire Council’s Infrastructure Department.

Community Councillors decided that they should write back to the Infrastructure Department saying that they fully approve the new supermarket.

The planning application, lodged by Halliday Fraser Munro on behalf of applicant Robertson Property Ltd, was approved this year, having been previously refused in 2008 for the following reason: “it has not been demonstrated that the development will have no detrimental impact on the vitality and viability of Fraserburgh town centre or would maintain or enhance the vitality and viability of the town centre.”
