Aberdeenshire Council is to hold a second awards ceremony celebrating the achievements and hard work of the region’s children, communities and staff.
More than 100 people were put forward for the first Inspiring Aberdeenshire event and nominations are now being invited for the 2014 awards.
They will be presented at a special ceremony next summer at Haddo House which is hosted by the council’s Education, Learning and Leisure service.
There are 11 categories including ‘Best of’ awards for Banff and Buchan, Buchan, Formartine, Garioch, Kincardine and Mearns and Marr.
These awards are presented to a child, young person or employee who has made an outstanding contribution to education, learning or leisure.
The other categories consist of the Extra Mile Award for a Staff Member, Aberdeenshire’s STAR Award, Outstanding Leader of the Year Award, Aberdeenshire is a Creative Place Art Competition and the Provost’s Award.
Chair of the Education, Learning and Leisure Committee, Councillor Isobel Davidson, said: “Last year’s awards were a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the best of Aberdeenshire and a way of giving back a little recognition to the people who consistently go above and beyond what is expected.
“There are a lot of great things going on across Education, Learning and Leisure and we are lucky that there are so many talented and enthusiastic people living and working in the area.
“I look forward to seeing this year’s nominations as they come in.”
Nomination forms, which must be returned by Friday, January 31, are available at: www.aberdeenshire.gov.uk/education/InspiringAberdeenshire.asp
