A public event is taking place tomorrow, Friday, October 11, to highlight the issue of child abuse and will feature a number of guest speakers.
The press conference, which is being organised by campaign group One Voice for the Kids, will take place tomorrow at the Fraserburgh Leisure Centre from 10am to 3.30pm.
The event is open to members of the public and the media and will discuss a range of issues relating to child abuse, including care orders and generational trauma.
Speakers at the press conference will include Cornel Brown, Steph Gearie, Catherine Hislop, David Eden and One Voice for the Kids chairman Sam Edwards.
Entry to the event is free.
Then, on Friday, November 1, Sam Edwards will walk over 500 miles from Aberdeen to 10 Downing Street to further highlight the issue of child abuse.
Mr Edwards has also said that he will be holding a small rally outside Social Services offices on Broad Street, Aberdeen, from 9am to 1pm on the day of the walk.
Commenting, Sam Edwards said: “My biggest achievement to date was seeing my children being born.
“My profession is Father and as a Father, I took on that role and all that comes with it. I made each of my children a promise when they were born, to love, nurture and protect them. During the Parent’s Walk of Justice, I intend to honour my promise and fight for their futures.”
Mr Edwards added: “If anyone wishes to walk alongside me for a mile, 5 miles or 50, I will not discourage anyone that wants to join me. I would welcome the company. It’s a crazy vision I have but I would love to see the entire country walk from Aberdeen to London.”
