Formerly Fraserburgh-based brewers BrewDog have announced plans to host an official opening ceremony for their new Ellon facility later this month.

The brewers recently relocated to Ellon following several years of operating out of Fraserburgh, but have announced that their Fraserburgh facility will remain open as a ‘brewing laboratory’, which will allow the company to continue to brew products in small batches.

The ceremony, which will be for shareholders (Equity Punks) in the company, will take place on Saturday, January 19, between 1pm and 4pm, featuring live music, food and tours of the facility.

BrewDog are asking those who wish to attend to contact zarah@brewdog.com by Monday, January 14.

BrewDog say: “The event on the 19th starts at 1pm and finishes at 4pm and is an Equity Punk only event. Thereafter we will have some special beers on at BrewDog Aberdeen and there will be a beer dinner that evening kicking off at 7:30 at Musa.”

They warn, however, that a place at Musa, Aberdeen, must be booked directly.

A shareholder will also be given the opportunity to formally open the new facility, which they say “would still be a pipe dream in the margin of Martin [Dickie]’s notepad if not for the Punk investors who shared in our vision.”

To be in with a chance of opening the brewery, shareholders are being asked to get creative by downloading and photographing themselves with a sign from the BrewDog website.

Further information on how to take part is available at www.brewdog.com.

BrewDog are also planning an open brewing day for their shareholders on April 20, for those who cannot make the opening.
