Fraserburgh Community Council has called for more members to join them in the Council Chambers this year, their numbers stagnating in recent years.
Now encompassing both Greenbank and Pitblae, the Fraserburgh Community Council have extended their invitation to all of Fraserburgh in a search to find active members interested in the community.
“We would welcome any new members to get involved,” said Mr McNab, the Community Council’s Chairperson.
Secretary Mr Page commented that the Community Council had, in the past, attempted to get younger, junior members by submitting application forms to Fraserburgh Academy and Banff and Buchan College, but had received no reply.
The Community Council meets monthly at the Council Chambers, Saltoun Square, discussing local matters and relaying community matters to councillors and Grampian Police.
A Community Council takes on multiple roles within its community, helping with environmental projects to organising public meetings on major development proposals.
The Community Council is a non-political, non-discriminatory body.
Those interested in becoming a member are asked to contact Secretary Mr Page. His contact details can be found online at aberdeenshire.gov.uk/communitycouncils/banff.asp.
Alternatively, you can sit in on a Community Council meeting before making your decision.
The Community Council next meet on May 15 at 7pm for their AGM.
