Local farmer and businessman Peter Chapman has been selected by Banff and Buchan Conservatives to stand as their candidate for the Scottish Parliamentary Elections in 2016.
Peter has always sought new experiences and challenges alongside his business career, as a main board member of Scottish National Heritage, vice-president of NFU Scotland and until 2012 as an Aberdeenshire Councillor. He remains a director of Aberdeen and Northern Marts.
Mr Chapman said: “Local democracy and accountability are threatened by the most controlling and centralising government we have ever seen.
“I am delighted to have been given this opportunity to stand up for the interests of local people.
“If elected, I promise to work with the local community and my colleagues of the North East to build a better future for all.”
Peter joins his fellow candidate for Aberdeenshire East Colin Clark who added, “We need a strong opposition for the sake of democracy in Scotland.
“Only the Scottish Conservatives offer a positive vision of enterprise, jobs and home ownership.”
Peterand Colin both bring a range of experience in politics and business.
