Pony Club hosts fun and games event at Philorth

East Aberdeenshire Pony Club will be hosting the area 1 mounted games competition, this weekend, May 21 and May 22 at Philorth

The Area Games Competition is an Area qualifier at which teams compete for a place to go through to the Zone Games held in July, the ultimate aim is then to qualify to appear at the Horse of the year show which is held each year at Birmingham in October.

Lesley Anderson, organiser of the competition and committee member of East Aberdeenshire Pony Club said: “We have 16 senior teams aged 11 - 15 and 9 junior teams aged 10, plus a further 4 junior novice teams aged 10 and under competing on the Saturday. The competitiors come from all over Scotland from as far North as Orkney and as far South as Stirling.

“The children form teams of 4 or 5 with their individual ponies and take part in various games throughout the day. All riders must be pony club members to take part.

“The competition being held on the Sunday is a friendly competition. The event is open to the public on a spectator basis only.

“We would encourage people to come along and see whats hsappening, they will be more than welcome but we would ask that they leave their dogs at home.”

For those who would wish to go along and see the competitions, the day starts at approx 9am with the first competition commencing at 11.30am. There is no entrance fee to spectators.
