The Fish Spa concept is now available at the Barber Shop and Salon on School Street. The store has invested £2,000 in the new treatment which will see fish helping you to silky smooth feet.

The Garra Rufa fish have no teeth and suck and nibble your feet which removes dead skin cells through natural exfoliation. The fish produce an enzyme called diathanol which is said to improve skin regeneration.

Dana Urquhart told the Herald: “It’s really tickly to start with, but it becomes really relaxing once you get use to the sensation, and over the shock of it. It is really good if you have really dry skin or suffer from eczema.

“The fish don’t actually eat your skin they suck it and spit it out, they are fed everyday. I used this for half an hour and once I came out my feet were really soft and I don’t normally like people touching my feet.”

The treatment costs £1 a minute but is cheaper in a blocked booking. There is also no age restriction on the treatment with a special offer for under 14s, and it safe for children to use when accompanied by a responsible adult.
