The issues of poverty and deprivation have been discussed at a recent meeting of Fraserburgh Community Council.

Vice-chair Mary Melville told the meeting that four community councillors had attended a meeting of ‘North Needs’ recently.

North Needs is a group which has been set up to represent areas of multiple deprivation in the north of Fraserburgh following a consultation last year.

The Community Council heard that the North Needs meeting involved a number of organisations, including: the Community Council; Fraserburgh Development Trust; NHS Grampian; Community Planning partners; Community Learning; Theatre Modo; and voluntary groups.

Together, the organisations discussed a number of ideas for the local area, including: developing a newsletter; a family day; a film and art programme; multilingual Facebook pages; and the sharing of resources, such as projectors and film screens.
