PETERHEAD’S Relay for Life event was held over the weekend and has raised £140,000 so far.

Event chair, Angie Shearer, said that some money was still to come in adding it was an incredible total for the 12 teams who took part in inclement weather.

She said: “No other relay has managed to raise more than £100,000 two years in a row so that shows how remarkable this community is at supporting Relay for Life and helping to save lives.”

Although it rained throughout the whole of Saturday, Angie said it didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits.

“It was an amazing 24 hours with a fantastic atmosphere and spirit,” added Angie.
