Aberdeenshire East MSP Alex Salmond is backing the new Aberdeenshire Voluntary Action umbrella group and is encouraging north-east residents to consider getting involved.

Aberdeenshire Voluntary Action is a new organisation that will take on the services currently being delivered by Bridge CVS, CVSA Central & South and Volunteer Centre Aberdeenshire.

The charity hopes to recruit up to seven new members to its board, including a chairperson, and hopes to attract people from a broad range of backgrounds from across Aberdeenshire to continue its development.

Mr Salmond said: “There are more than a million volunteers in Scotland – all of whom are central to the wellbeing of our communities across Scotland.

“I would encourage anyone who is interested in taking the lead with voluntary groups in Aberdeenshire to find out more.”

An informal information evening, held at the Saplinbrae House Hotel in Mintlaw recently, encouraged folk from the local area to consider becoming volunteers and was well supported.
