Former Area Co-ordinator, Andy Coueslant, has been named as the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service’s new Deputy Assistant Chief Officer and Head of Service Delivery in the north of Scotland.

In 2014 the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service devised a new, streamlined management structure across Scotland with the creation of three new Deputy Assistant Chief Officer (DACO) posts. These posts came into effect in January 2015.

After achieving success during the selection process stage, Andy was appointed as the new DACO for the North SDA, a post which also makes him Head of Service Delivery in the North.

His role is to support the Director of Service Delivery for Scotland, Assistant Chief Officer Dave Boyle, in the delivery of fire and rescue services in the north of Scotland, which takes in the legacy Grampian, Highlands and Islands and Tayside areas.

Speaking about his new role Andy said:

“I am immensely excited to be starting in this role.

“I am very much look forward to working with the teams already in place and our partners to improve the safety and wellbeing of all communities in the north of Scotland.”

Andy joined Grampian Fire and Rescue Service in 1986.

In his career, Andy has operated in many of the varied areas of the fire service including:

Operations; community fire safety; training and service support.
