Stead and Simpson will close its doors in November, it has been revealed.
The news follows on from several weeks of a ‘closing down’ announcement being visible at the Broad Street store.
Staff at Fraserburgh’s Stead and Simpson, a footwear store, had displayed posters on the shop’s windows, declaring that the store was to close several weeks ago, changing the posters this month for ones giving the month in which the store would cease to operate.
When contacted, a spokesperson for Stead and Simpson told the Fraserburgh Herald that the store was indeed closing down, adding that “poor performance” and “rising costs” were part of their decision to leave Fraserburgh.
The spokesperson added that the the decision to close any store is “difficult,” and that Stead and Simpson always try to redeploy staff to other stores.
