Hairdressing and Beauty students at Banff and Buchan College held a showcase event on Tuesday 26th April and managed to raise £288.55 for local girl Olivia Downie.
Olivia has nauroblastoma cancer and her family are raising £60,000 to enable Olivia to get treatment in America.
Tutor Jacqueline Ewart said “Students chose to raise money for Olivia Downie as they wished to support a local charity, because some of the students know the family and also many of the students have young children themselves.”
Throughout the day hairdressing students demonstrated a number of techniques including hair-ups, blow dry’s and they also offered free consultations, sets and styling. The Beauty students showcased new FX Eyelashes, micro dermabrasion facials, micro-current facials and body massage. Guests could also get a file and polish for £2:00.
Student Kirsty Anderson said “We would like to thank everyone who contributed and supported our event today. We found the promotion very successful and raising the money for Olivia very rewarding.”
