Circus skills organisation Theatre Modo has announced the start of its CircoModo Programme for 2014.
Theatre Modo, which won an award of £50,000 in the People’s Millions in November, will now run a weekly programme in three areas of the North-east.
Following on from their recent success in the People’s Millions, Modo will now be able to run the weekly CircoModo Programme during term time for the whole of 2014 in Fraserburgh, Mintlaw and Peterhead.
All circus skills workshops will be free and open to all 11-25 year olds who are keen to learn new skills, have the opportunity to take part in community events and have great fun.
Workshops will be run by professionally trained staff and volunteers who will support participants and encourage progression.
Progression can mean moving on to volunteering, training and recognised accreditation.
Modo will be running a Training Programme in 2014 for more committed participants who would like to become peer mentors and share their skills with others.
Last year saw Modo move to a permanent base in the North-east and, according to organisers, it looks as if 2014 will be an equally exciting year for the organisation and the young people who come along to the workshops.
If you would like to join in the fun, learn new skills and meet new friends, then come along to one of the Theatre Modo sessions. The CircoModo Programme venues and times are as follows:
Tuesdays from 3.30pm to 5.30pm at Mintlaw Academy Gym 1, starting on January 14. Free transport home for young people who stay outside Mintlaw.
Tuesdays from 7pm to 9pm at Fraserburgh Academy (Boys Gym), starting on January 14. Please note that due to exams in the gym there will be no CircoModo on Tuesday, January 28, and Tuesday, February 4.
Thursdays from 7pm to 9pm at Peterhead Rescue Hall, Prince Street (Downstairs Hall), starting on January 16.
