A St Fergus couple are hosting their third fundraising Miracle Ball in support of Aberdeen Fertility Centre as a thank you for helping them conceive their two children.
John and Diane Buchan had been trying for a baby for around 18 months before they sought help and were told that Diane’s endometriosis she had suffered at a younger age, had become more severe.
After ongoing treatment however, the couple were told that they were pregnant a few months later.
Through previous Miracle Ball events, the couple have managed to raise a combined total of just under £20,000 for the Fertility Centre which helps to pay for equipment to help with the miracle work that they do.
Funding is vital to the clinic to help them carry out their work and continued research, and any money raised will help in a big way.
Before the 2010 Miracle ball, Diane said: “Hopefully by telling our story and doing our fundraising we can help overcome this problem and raise awareness of fertility problems and the Aberdeen Fertility Centre.”
John said: “We have tried to cut costs to make the tickets more affordable this time and it will be more of a party night rather than a formal dress ball.”
The fundraising night will start at 6.30pm on Saturday, November 9 at the Buchan Braes Hotel with a short introduction followed by a luxury buffet.
The Steve Ransome band will play until midnight before a DJ takes to the stage until 1am.
John added: “We plan to have a heads and tails game, prize draw, auction, raffle and we have PhotoHoot coming along for an added bit of fun.
“We have some great prizes up for grabs such as kindles, scooters, vouchers, capital bonds, a day out to watch Aberdeen FC from the Scottish Fishermens Federation box seats, a golf day out at Meldrum House from Seatronics, a weeks holiday cottage rental in Sussex and two tickets to see Manchester United’s last home game in the Champions League group stages!”
Tickets for the Miracle Ball are priced at £30 each and are available from Diane and John by either e-mailing: firstname.lastname@example.org, calling 01779 838116 or via their Facebook page: www.facebook.com/miraclepartynight.
