A quiz night held in aid of Scottish children’s charities and organisations has been described as an ‘outstanding success’ by its organisers.

The Kilimanjaro Kilt-walk Charity Quiz Night was held at the Royal Oak Hotel, Turriff, recently.

Proceeds from the event are going to five organisations, including the Westfield School in Fraserburgh.

A total of £2,830 was raised on the night, with over 100 people attending the event.

The fund-raiser also included a raffle and auction.

The quiz night was organised as part of fund-raising efforts by siblings Catherine Stuart and Tom Robertson, and their friend Phil MacIver, who are planning to take part in the Kilimanjaro Kilt-walk in October this year. The trek will see the trio walk 37 miles over six days.

Commenting, Catherine said: “I would really like the opportunity to thank all who contributed, helped and attended on the night. Family friends, neighbours and members of the general public.

“The response from local businesses and individuals in the Fraserbugh area who donated raffle and auction prizes was absolutely fantastic and I can’t thank them enough.

“Also thanks to Yvonne, Jim and staff at the Royal Oak who helped with all arrangements and made the night possible.”

At the auction, over £400 was raised from the sale of AC/DC memorabilia, including the sale of a signed drum skin, photograph and various programmes. A signed Scotland football top raised £150 while a signed Aberdeen FC football top raised £90.
