Fraserburgh can now boast to be the home of the pub with the best outside facilities of any pub in Scotland.
Cheers Cafe Bar and Tavern has picked up the Repertoire Best Outside Area award at this year’s DRAM Scottish Licensed Trade Awards, which took place on Monday June 20 at the Grand Central Hotel in Glasgow.
A delighted Dennis Forsyth told the Herald: “I am absolutely delighted that we have been recognised for our outdoor facilities.
“Within the space of six months we have gone from disaster with our roof collapse to providing the best outside facilities in Scotland.
“At the start of the evening people were asking me where Fraserburgh was, by the end of the evening everyone knew.”
The judges were looking for the most attractive outdoor area in Scotland, and one that really met customers’ needs.
They said of Cheers: “What a well thought out outside area. There is something for everyone. Whether you want to recline on tasteful outdoor couches, or enjoy a game of pool or darts, this area has it all.
“The outside area is one of the largest we have seen, and one of the best equipped and most stylish. With an outdoor capacity in excess of 300, it is to be envied.”
Commenting organiser Susan Young said: “We have been the length and breadth of the country and I have to say that this outdoor area bowled the judges over. Congratulations to all at Cheers.”
Now in their 16th year, the DRAM Scottish Licensed Trade Awards are Scotland’s longest established pub industry awards and were hosted by Sky Sports’ Peter Martin.
