The first Scottish soldier to be awarded the Victoria Cross during WW1 has been honoured during a ceremony in Fraserburgh last Saturday.
The ceremony - which took place at Saltoun Place Gardens - was held to commemorate the 100th anniversary since the actions which led to Lance Corporal Charles Jarvis, from Fraserburgh, being awarded the special honour.
Among those present at the commemorative event were Fraserburgh councillors Charles Buchan and Ian Tait, Area Manager Margaret-Jane Cardno, Chairman of the Banff and Buchan Area Committee councillor John Cox and representatives from organisations including the Fraserburgh Sea Cadets and Fraserburgh Rotary.
The ceremony featured hymns and a number of readings before the plaque was officially unveiled by Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Aberdeenshire Kate Nicolson.
