Home-Start NEA recently received a very welcome donation from Home-Start volunteer Allison Brownlee and Mike Birch who raised an amazing total of £800 sponsorship when they walked the West Highland Way in April.

Heavy rain on several days of the walk did not deter the pair who were determined to complete the 960mile walk from Milngavie to Fort William, whatever the weather!

Allison and Mike enjoyed the challenge of walking between 12 and 21 miles, each of the six days, through very varied and beautiful countryside.

Flora Todd, chairperson of Home-Start Board of Trustees, presented Allison and Mike with a certificate (right) to commemorate their achievement and expressed grateful thanks for their tremendous effort to raise money for Home-Start, a charity which offers support and friendship to Buchan families with at least one child under the age of 5 years, who have difficulty coping for many reasons, including post-natal illness, isolation, bereavement and disability.

Home-Start NEA (North-East Aberdeenshire) is based in Fraserburgh and also covers the Peterhead and surrounding rural areas.
