A pair of Fraserburgh school girls have been raising money for charity recently.

Krista Smart and Chloe Murray have raised a total of £329 for the Willows Animal Sanctuary, near Strichen. The girls hosted an “Open House” in which friends and family could purchase hand-made cards and homebakes. Approximately 40 people turned out to the event.

Commenting, Krista’s mum, Angela Smart said: “Over past few years, we have had an annual “Open House”, where friends and family are invited round for their tea and a ‘fine piece’ and have the opportunity to purchase some hand-made cards, homebakes etc.

“We normally choose a charity, picked by the children, to support. This year’s fund-raising was for Willows Animal Sanctuary, which Krista and her friend Chloe chose due to their love of animals.

“On the day we had a choice of cards for all occasions, ranging from birthdays, anniversaries, babies and Christmas cards, all which could be personalised.

“Krista and Chloe had a stall where there were home-bakes, raffles, cakepops, Magic Square and Guess the Sweeties on offer. Unsold home-bakes were offered to neighbours to purchase. They made an amazing £160 and worked flat out to keep up with demand.

“I have been making the Christmas cards since June, just for a selection on the day. In total, I have sold 174 cards for the event.

“Can I please take the opportunity to thank all who came to our house for their support and for all the donations of baking, raffle prizes and help on the day.”
