BROCH swimmer Eilidh Kirkwood has returned from the Scottish Schools Championships with a Silver medal.

Fraserburgh Academy Pupil Eilidh (16) has taken part in the Scottish Schools Finals since being a pupil at Fraserburgh South Park and Frasebrurgh Academy, but until now had not made it onto the medal placings.

So this year was her final chance. After recording a PB in the 100m Butterly, Eilidh had the last event of the day, the 200 IM, so it was all or nothing:

“Eilidh swam with all her might and as well as PB bagging aPB in the event by five seconds, she also finished second to claim Silver.

“Coaches and Swimmers watching the event ended up in tears as she got her medal.

Eilidh told the Herald: “I’ve worked so hard, but never quite got there, and it’s a dream come true!” ACF8211-2351
