All the latest welfare cup and league action

In the North East Scotland Welfare footballSoccerWorld Cup first round Mormond Thistle entertained Invercairn.

The first chance fell to Neil Thomson but he shot straight at the away keeper.

At the other end a MJ Patterson freekick was only inches away from the post.

Mormond took the lead on 18 minutes when Ross Brown sharp turn in the box and his shot found the bottom corner of the net. They doubled their lead just before half time with a drive by Neil Thomson. On 57 minutes, it was 3-0 to the home side when a tremendous diagonal ball by Rennie found Thomson who finished with a first time shot.

The visitors earned a penalty with 15 minutes to go but MJ Patterson took the penalty but hit the outside of the post and out for a goal kick.

The home keeper made two super saves from Charles West near the end of the game to keep a clean sheet and go through to the next round.

In the Deejays Nightclub League, Mintlaw FC played their last league game of the season when they faced title chasing Clinton Thistle and it ended in a one-sided game with the visitors winning 10-1.

The winning goals came from Simon Whyte who netted a hatrick, braces from Jamie Martin and Willie Noble and one each from Gilbert Patterson Snr, Robert Buchan and Allan Reid, The home side scorer was Sean Park.

Bellslea were hoping to keep their title hopes alive when they faced Elizabethan Link Up in the league and it ended with the home side scoring seven goals without reply.

The home side led 4-0 at half time with goals from Zack Conway, (ex Fraserburgh ) netting two and Arron Gall and Jordan Clark with the others.

Into the second half and they added another three more goals through Daryl Allan with two headed goals and Zack Conway netting another for his hatrick.

Last league game of the day saw St Combs facing Faithlie United and it took 40 minutes before a goal arrived and it was the visitors who scored through Martin Buchan.

The home side hit back nine minutes later when they were awarded a penalty which was converted by Mark Fraser, but the visitors scored twice inside five minutes through Martin Buchan and Matthew Garden to end the scoring and net another three points.
