IN THE Deejays Nightclub League, Bellslea had home advantage over Clinton Thistle and it was the visitors who had the first chance when Whyte curled a shot in and stand-in keeper Milne managed to push round the post.
From the corner Fleming headed over the bar. At the other end a Watt shot was saved by Stewart and again Stewart saved from Anderson. Clinton then took the lead on 16 minutes with a goal from Simon Whyte which went in off the post.
Lee noble then had the miss of the season from a few yards out when he managed to hit the bar and over for a goal kick.
At the start of the second half Bellslea blitzed Clinton scoring three goals in the space of four minutes, the first from Rollo whose shot from the edge of the box went in off the post.
The second was a cool finish from Calder and the third was from Bellslea hitman Fraser Watt who beat three players before firing home. Clinton’s best chance to get a goal back was wasted by Falconer after Milne made a good save.
Watt then set up Lee Noble for the fourth and rounding off the scoring was a second for Calder for a convincing win for the home side.
In the first round of the Victoria Cup, Mormond Thistle faced New Pitsligo and this was always going to be a tough game but the home side were struggling for players and had to play with nine men for most of the game.
This left Pitsligo with an easy win by 7-1. The winning goals came from Ryan Christie with a brace and one each from N. Christie, Reekie, Michie, Mitchell and Martin.
In another first round game Invercairn United had Rosehearty Thistle as opponents for a place in the quarter-finals and it was the home side that progressed to the next round scoring four goals without reply.
The goals were scored by Jamie Martin, Gilbert Paterson Jnr, John James Sim and Nicki Tait.
