North-east Scotland welfare action

In the Deejays Nightclub League, Clinton Thistle secured a 4-2 home win against Faithlie United.

It took a goal from Robert Buchan for Clinton Thistle to take the lead in the first half and it stayed that way until half time. 

Into the second half and Clinton Thistle striker Jamie Martin scored two more goals to leave the home side winning by three goals.

Faithlie hit back with a goal from Daniel Reid, Jamie Martin completed his hatrick to restore the three-goal lead. Karl Noble pulled one goal back for the visitors to end the scoring.

Clinton Thistle faced Bellslea for a place in the final and a close game was expected but it finished with Bellslea winning and going through to the final by scoring five goals without reply.

The goals came from Zack Conway who netted twice and one each from Gary Summers, William Calder and a 25 yard strike from Daryl Allan.

Deejays Nightclub League title favourites New Pitsligo entertained St Combs in a league match and this one ended in a 2-0 win for the home side. A goal in both halves of the game was enough to see the home side edge nearer to the title. The goals came from Pitsligo strikers Gibby Stephen and Neil Christie. The home side finished the match with 10 men after Kevin Buchan was sent off.

In another league game Invercairn entertained Faithlie United and the away side led 3-1 at half time. They then made a host of changes, back came Invercairn to score two late goals to earn a point. Scorers for the home side were Craig McKenzie, David Hadden and Ross Davidson and replying for he visitors was Jonathan Reid, Michael Clark and Dale Allan.

Last game of the day was a nine-goal thriller between New Deer and Elizabethan Link Up. The home side went in front through Scott Milne.  The visitors drew level with a goal from John McKinnon and it stayed that way until 47 minutes when a long throw in went in off a New Deer player.

The away side increased their lead when Keith Nicol scored at the back post. Back came New Deer scoring two goals from Willie Robbie and Gary Thomson to level at 3-3.  John McKinnon got his second to put the away side in front once more but Barry Crighton made it four apiece. On 88 minutes John McKinnon got his hatrick to win all three points for Elizabethan Link Up. The visitors ended the match with 10 men after Barry Stephen was sent off.
