Packed weekend of Welfare action

New Deer faced Clinton Thistle at the weekend and this one was always going to be an uphill struggle for the home side and it ended in a 9-2 win.

The away side’s scorers were Simon Whyte and Gilbert Patterson Jnr, both netting a brace each, two own goals and one each from Chris Stewart, Robert Buchan and Scott Milne. For the home side was Barry Crighton with a brace.

Elizabethan Link Up faced second placed Faithlie United and the home side suffered a heavy defeat leaking ten goals.

The scorers were Andy McKay, Dale Allan and Chris Grieve all netting a brace each and the others were from Danny Reid, Daniel Reid, Martin Buchan and Fraser Anderson.

In another league match Rosehearty Thistle entertained Cheers who have picked up a few good results this season but it was the home side that took all three points when they ran out winners by 6-3 with a fine performance.

Top man today was Steven Sharp who scored a hatrick and the others came from Graham Smith, Mark McDonald and Ryan Cook.

Replying for the away side were John Bruce, Gary Cowe and Ryan Thomson.

Cheers faced Faithlie United and the away side took the lead early on when they earned a penalty and Dale Allan sent the keeper the wrong way for the first goal.

Faithlie wasted a host of chances to increase their lead but it stayed at 1-0 until the second minute of the second half where Nathan Sandison scored their second.

Fraser Anderson should have made it three, but his shot came back off the post.

Sandison and Anderson added two more to make it 4-0 but Cheers kept going and got a consolation goal near the end when Dan Simpson netted.

St Combs were hosts against Rosehearty Thistle and the home side kept their good form of late scoring nine goals without reply.

Left back James Cardno fired in a first half hatrick which included a penalty. John Smith and Neil Taylor netted a brace each, the latter with a cracking volley at the back post and there was one each from Nicky Tait and Joseph Dolman
