Beach Fun Run for young Broch runners

MORE than 35 competitors took part in the Junior Joggers annual fun run on Saturday, 20th June, along Fraserburgh Beach.

The event was organised by Active Schools and supported by members of Fraserburghs Running Club.

Competitors ran two miles in total up and back down the beach starting from the Seashore Centre and then finishing back at the centre, Paul Robinson Active Schools Coordinator for the Fraserburgh Network, got the crowd warmed up with an aerobic routine while other coaches and volunteers were helping mark out the run and organise the start.

Paul said they were delighted with the turn out but the number of children taking part had not been as many as last year but it was a great sunny morning and all had enjoyed the event, he said it was fantastic to see so many youngsters participating in the race along with receiving excellent support from their families.

"Thanks go out to all who took part in the organising and running of the event and also to Andrew the community warden for all his help on the day, Thanks also to all the marshals and sponsors including the Running Club for their kind donations and Trophies, and Johnstone Carmichael for donations of water bottles," he said.

Paul said without the help of local businesses, the event could not have run.

Paul and especially wanted to thank Rosalind Reid and Denise Milne for their commitment to the Junior Joggers, Alex Buchan for accommodating the event at the Seashore Centre, and again all who took part and helped on the day.

At the end of the race all competitors were presented with certificates, water bottles and and trophies by Stephen Milne from Fraserburgh Running club.

The winning competitors received medals and shields and the results of the race were as follows-

P4-5 Boys First Blair Fraser; P4-5 Girls First Toni Ingram.
