Bellslea move up to third with six-goal win
IN THE Deejays Nightclub League, Bellslea were facing Rosehearty Thistle and it was the home team that kept a clean sheet scoring six goals to move them up two places to third in the league.
The goals came from William Calder with a hatrick and one each from Scot Falconer, Colin Stewart and Daryl Allan, It could have been a lot more but the Rosehearty keeper was in excellent form.
Second place Invercairn United had league leaders Clinton Thistle as visitors and it was the away side that went in front from a corner from Ross which was headed home by Fowlie. Against the run of play Invercairn drew level with a solo goal from JJ Sim.
Simon Whyte put the visitors back in front with a blistering strike which flew past the home keeper Pirie.
Invercairn again drew level with an excellent move from Paterson and JJ Sim crossed for Jamie Martin to head home. For the first time the home side went in front after Whyte picked the ball up on the halfway line, went past his marker and slotted low into the corner of the net.
Into the second half and Fowlie netted his second with another header to square the game. Once more Clinton went back in front after good work from Milne, Slater came in to score and thought they had won but Invercairn never gave up and from a G. Paterson snr free kick S. Stephen headed home for the game to end all square.
New Pitsligo were hosts to St Combs in a league game and it was the visitors that started the game the better team and took the lead on seven minutes from a Neil Taylor goal but their lead only lasted a few minutes as a Black cross was headed in by Neil Christie.
New Pitsligo's Michael Fraser had a shot blocked on the goal line then Christie gave Pitsligo the lead from another corner which was swung in to the back post by Michie and headed back across goal by R. Christie and nodded home by Neil. Black was unlucky not to score after he went down the right and cut in and fired a low shot but St Combs keeper came out to save.
Neil got his hatrick after he latched on to a through ball and rounded the keeper to score. St Combs were finding it hard to create any good chances and Neil finished the scoring with his fourth goal from a Stephen cross to leave New Pitsligo comfortable winners by 4-1.
Title-chasing Invercairn United and Panasonic Tavern knew only a win would keep them in with a shout of winning the league and the home side controlled the opening 15 minutes but with the wind behind them, they were finding it hard to create any chances.
Panasonic took the lead against the run of play when a cross came over it was headed on by Donaldson and Hossack fired home.
On 25 minutes Panasonic were reduced to ten men after Ally Donaldson was sent off for receiving a second caution. Ingils doubled their lead when he drilled a shot low into the net after good work by Peddan and Hossack.
Just on the stroke of half time Invercairn pulled one back with a goal from James Cardno who finished off a good move by Invercairn.
A Long ball forward was held up by Ingils who played in Hossack but his shot was saved at the near post. The Panasonic keeper then made a couple of saves from Jamie Martin and John James Sim. Invercairn did pull one more goal back with a tremendous 25-yard shot which flew past Gatt but it was too late and it resulted in an excellent win for Panasonic who played with ten men for 65 minutes.
Rosehearty Thistle were facing Cheers who were still looking for their first point of the season and it came in this game with a 3-3 draw. The home goals came from Lee Shand, Jordan Jamieson and Mike Greening and for the visitors were Peter Humpheries, David Ellis and Malcolm Campbell, The home side finished the match with ten players as they had Jordan Jamieson sent off.
Faithlie United had Bellslea as opponents who are slight favourites for the title again this year and for the second time this season they put five pastthe home side to move into second place in the league. Young Daniel Reid was in excellent form for Faithlie United but couldn't stop the Bellslea machine. Scorers for the visitors were William Calder, Trevor Fleming, Daryl Allan, Lee Noble and Colin Stewart.
The last league game was a close affair between Mormond Thistle and Elizabethan Link Up and it ended all square with both sides scoring two goals.
For the home side were Calum Brown and James Thomson and for the visitors was eter McCrae with a brace.
