Club receives development award

FRASERBURGH Cricket Club recently received an award for their recent work in Development of junior cricket.

The Bronze award was present to the Broch club at the recent Fraserburgh Area Primary School Cricket Festival.

The Bronze award is the third top award and shows the way that the club are going, and has taken the club four years to achieve.

The Bronze award is awarded to clubs who have got everything in order with everything from behind the scenes of constitutions and child protection to coaching with Fraserburgh now with 5 level one coaches and 1 level two.

This is a huge achievement for a small team like Fraserburgh, who only five years ago started their junior section.

This has largely been achieved thanks to the work between the club and Paul Robinson at active Schools.

The next step for Fraserburgh is the Silver award, with a lot of the criteria already meet the big one being the introduction of females to the sport. With this in mind it is hoped that a few females can be recruited with the intention of a team being formed in the next year.

Fraserburgh Cricket Development officer Alan Rennie said that this is exciting times for Fraserburgh with this recognition of the club.

"Fraserburgh cricket club is a forward thinking club, and have identified junior cricket as the way forward.

"With the addition of three coaches this year and the achievement of a level two coach the standard of cricket here should rise in the future.

"It is also recognised that we would not be in this situation without the support of parents of the children taking part, Paul Robinson (active schools) and the primary school's in the area.

"This is an award which signifies the good link we have with everyone!"
