EIGHT-GOAL THRILLER
IN WHAT could be described as an incredible game at Bellslea Park, Fraserburgh came from 4-1 down to grab a point at the death against a Clachnacuddin side struggling for a win with a late flurry.
Fraserburgh had failed to net in any of their 3 previous league games, but Saturday proved to be much more different.
Stand-in left-back William West was ordered off after quarter of an hour for a kick on Stuart Leslie, which saw the third red card at Bellslea in as many games.
Andrew MacAskill, who was as lively and creative as ever throughout the game, tested Paul Leask with a long-range drive, which the Broch keeper acrobatically tipped onto the bar.
However, the Lilywhites made the man advantage count within a few minutes. A corner from the right was headed in at the front post area by Steven MacDonald, making Fraserburgh's task increasingly difficult. Russell McBride came mightily close with an effort that flashed across the face of the goal, but Fraserburgh managed to bring themselves level a few moments before the interval.
Jamie Ralph was adjudged to have been felled by MacDonald, and Allan Hale sent the keeper the wrong way.
The home side could even have taken the lead at the beginning of the second half, if it wasn't for Adam Naismith's brilliant block on the line from Johnston's net-bound shot, after Fraserburgh had broken up the pitch when Dean Elrick headed away off the line from Stuart Leslie.
The Clach number eight was soon to get his own back after his previous effort, putting the Inverness outfit back in front. A high ball into the box wasn't cleared properly and the impressive Stuart Leslie rose highest in a pack of players to score.
Matters were made even worse for the already-trailing home side, as Clachnacuddin had a third goal within a minute of their second. Andrew MacAskill was bundled over in the penalty box, and Gordon Morrison hit his effort in the opposite direction of Leask to surely put the game beyond the Brochers.
You could certainly have been forgiven for believing that the game was now well and truly over as Clach grabbed another goal in quick succession, MacAskill, who was proving a real handful, slipped a ball to Stuart Leslie, and he didn't fail to disappoint his side with the finish, taking a neat touch and firing into the corner past Leask to give his side what looked like an unassailable lead.
But within a minute of Clach's fourth, Fraserburgh showed that if they were to go down, they would do it with all guns blazing. Johnston's cross from the left found Allan Hale at the back post who's looping header beat Harrison for his 20th goal of the season, making it a superb return for the youngster, and remarkably there had been four goals scored in a whirlwind seven minutes.
Gordon Morrison had a powerful half-volley turned away by Leask, but the action spread to the other end as Fraserburgh amazingly hauled themselves right back into the fray.
Jamie Ralph's mishit shot fell to Jamie Beagrie six yards out, he smashed in a low effort, and now it was definitely game on with over fifteen minutes remaining.
As Clach prayed for the final whistle to sound, they looked to have seen the game out and held on for the three points, that was, until the 94 minute.
The never-say-die attitude of the Fraserburgh squad has been present on several occasions in this league campaign, and refused to disappear this afternoon. Graham Johnston swung in a free-kick from 30 yards, and the ball eventually dropped to Jamie Ralph, and he managed to scramble the ball home from a couple of yards out.
