Fabulous final for Gray and Adams Invitation

SOME top notch bowling, by Willie Woods MBE, David Peacock, Scott Murray and Stephen Davidson brought the Gray & Adams invitation pairs final to a close, in front of a very appreciative support at Fraserburgh Leisure Centre at the weekend.

The pairs final, was a bit one sided with the Scotland Duo of Willie Woods and David Peacock in command from the start, opening with two counts of four and then a single shot on the first three ends.

The fourth end no shot was counted, and on the 5th end, Scott Murray and Stephen Davidson opened their account. The timed game finished two ends later with Willie and David winning 11-1.

The singles section of the final was a different story however, with veteran Willie Woods playing young Scott Murray, and David Peacock playing Stephen Davidson.

David Peacock opened with a 3 and a 2 to go 5-0 up after two ends, but then Stephen hit back with a 3 and a 2 to level after four ends.

David then won the next four ends moving into a 10-5 lead before being pegged back to 10-7 after the next two ends.

Single shots on the next two ends to David took him into a 12-7 lead playing the last end. Stephen picked up a count of three to narrow the scores and concede victory by 12-10.

In the game with Willie Woods and Scott Murray, Willie went into a five shot lead after three ends, before Scott got on the score board.

For the next five ends, both players were winning alternate ends, with Willie moving to a 10-6 lead after ten ends. Willie won the next four ends to go into the last end with a 15-6 lead. Young Scott picked up two on the last end.

Willie Woods and David Peacock defeated fellow professionals Alex Marshall MBE and Paul Foster in the semi finals and Stephen Davidson and Scott Murray defeated Alan Rough and Derek Murray, Scott's father in their semi final tie.
