Fish active at Delgatie
Air and water temperature is showing signs of rising at Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery, albeit slowly and this has led to occasions where the fish are active nearer the surface although the success of the dry fly has been restricted to short bursts during the course of the day with the fish retreating to the depths at other times.
Even Buzzers, while they have been successful, have to be fished at deeper levels with a weighted tail to enjoy any success.
The main success last week was again lures with Olive Fritz or WSW most successful. However the fishing proved to be excellent for those prepared to adjust.
Best catches were recorded by the following anglers:
K. Mackay, Macduff (24 fish, Olive Fritz and lures); A. Murray, Gardenstown (15 fish, Olive Fritz); C. McPhee, Peterhead (12 fish, Buzzers); G. Burton, Gardenstown (11 fish, Buzzers); I. Watt, Turriff (ten fish, Dry/Buzzers); N. Paterson, Turriff (ten fish, Olive Fritz); P. Low, Aberdeen (nine fish, Bunny Leech); N. Thomson, Turriff (nine fish, Buzzers); A. Gibson, Gardenstown (nine fish, Yellow Dancer).
