Fraserburgh Mission's charity open golf tournament raises over £9,000

THE Fraserburgh Mission recently held their ninth annual golf tournament at Inverallochy Golf Course and raised over £9,000 for Mission funds.

Teams came from Aberdeen, Peterhead, Gardenstown and Fraserburgh and neighbouring villages, despite a brisk breeze the thirty-four teams enjoyed a good day.

The Mission is indebted to Westward Fishing Company who was sponsors for this year's event. At the prize giving Senior Superintendent Murray Campbell thanked Mr Alex West for his company's support of the Mission, he also thanked Inverallochy Golf Club for the excellent condition of their golf course, and their catering staff for the meals served.

He finished by thanking all who contributed to making the day such a success for the Mission, not forgetting the 35th team, his administration team who contributed to the success of the event for which the Mission benefited by over 9K.

Mr Alex West then presented the prizes, first thanking Murray Campbell for his work at the Mission. FV "Faithful" with the winning score of 196 won the Westward Trophy, the runners up was FV "Castlewood".

Mr James Buchan, FV "Renown", won a new cup for the individual scratch prize. Mr Colin West who played JPM plumbing won the handicap prize with a score of 59. Mr Michael Tait of "Dunes" donated a driver, which was won by Ryan Tait of Financial Options.

Other prize winners were; R T Whyte 2nd scratch FV "Christina S", J Wiseman 3rd scratch Financial Options, A. Watt 2nd handicap FV "Ocean Dawn", A Tait 3rd handicap Klondyke Fishing.

The Superintendent of the Mission in Fraserburgh and Moray Firth Coast said: "It was great to see the support the Mission received and to see the 34 teams enjoying the event, hopefully next year being our 10th anniversary we can pull out all the stops to make it a really special occasion."
