Cadets

Gordon Mutch led the youngsters away closely followed by Sam McKenzie, Shaun Davidson, Owen Dunbar and James Wood. This order was maintained until two karts touched coming down to Seafield Complex resulting in Davidson spinning out thus dropping down the order. This incident allowed Robbie Souter to move briefly to third. Wood took over third a lap later. Mutch had opened up a gap to take the chequered flag from Sam McKenzie. Wood came home third ahead of Souter.

Mini Max

Andy Webb and Jack Simpson pulled away from the pack early on. Simpson was harrying Webb and at pit corner made his move by diving down the inside to take the lead, which he was not to relinquish. Webb took second spot on the podium.

Meanwhile James Doree Pritchard was leading the chase group of Ross Shearer, Brendan Walker and Scott Murray. Murray moved to fifth on lap three but lost his chain guard and had to pit a few laps later. Doree Pritchard finished third ahead of Shearer and Walker. Steven Allan took sixth ahead of Lewis Rea.

Junior Max

Frazer Huntley got the best start from Naill Kinghorn, Luke Geddes and Lewis Moir. Moir retired early. Geddes squeezed past Kinghorn and took up to chase down Huntley. Geddes caught Huntley with only a few laps remaining but the latter held on to take the victory.

Prokarts

The large entry in this class required a B final with the winner and runner up taking the final two positions in the A final. The B final winner was Scott Smith and the runner-up was Michael Whiteley.

The prokart got away from the standing start with pole-man Dean McGill from Adrian Brodie, Chris Walker, Mark Wyness, and Stuart Dalgarno.

Walker moved to second on second lap but lost a number of places after being involved in an incident. McGill opened a small gap but Brodie closed in and took the lead at gate corner. McGill regained the lead at MTM bend later during the lap. The lead changed several times during the final few laps but McGill was the first to receive the chequered flag. The charge for third could not be closer with Wyness, Walker and Dalgarno crossing the line three abreast with Wyness being awarded third. Walker and Dalgarno taking the next two places. Ken Langley was sixth followed home by Kev McConnachie.

Senior Max

Neil Ferguson had put his kart on pole position for the final and at the green lights led the large grid away. Ferguson was not headed and took the victory. However this was not as easy as it sounds as he was under pressure all the way firstly from Terry Johnston and then from Derek Kinghorn. As the race developed a front four of Ferguson, Johnston, Kinghorn and Tony Strachan pulled away from the pack.

On lap four, Kinghorn move to second to take up the Ferguson challenge and at the same time Strachan moved to third. However the Johnston was to take the position back on the last lap. However an interloper was to appear, Scott Rennie, from the back of the grid who came through to finish second in the race with his 100cc engined kart.

Ferguson's comment after the race was "I drove my butt off". Kinghorn was third followed by Johnston and Strachan. Sixth was Ian Duncan followed by Kenny Mearns, Garry Lobban and Paul Heyhoe.

Heather Brodie presented the trophies in the clubhouse after the meeting. The next meeting at Grampian Kart Club will be on Sunday, September 12.
